Southern Comfort in Miami – Vintage Engagement Photography – Jessica & Jamar

Jessica is a true Southern Belle and Jamar is from South Florida. The couple wanted to show both backgrounds in a subtle way. Greynolds Park was a great location to shoot Jessica’s Southern Hospitality. The theme of the wedding is Southern Comfort in Miami. Wynwood Walls was a great location to express Jamar’s artistic abilities and city upbringing.
How they met…
Jessica and Jamar met on South Beach in front of Wet Willies, March 16th, 2010. Jessica was walking down Ocean Drive heading South with her girlfriend and Jamar and his fraternity brothers were walking North. As they passed one another, Jamar ran his hand over Jessica’s head and said, “Hey Girl! Let me grease your scalp!!!” Jessica in utter shock and embarrassment, thought to herself, “is my hair that dry, I know I’ve been out in the sun all day?” She continued to walk, but looked back, and to her amazement, Jamar was standing there waiting for her to say something to him. Jessica gestured for him to come to her…and asked “is my hair really that dry that you, a stranger has to ask to grease my scalp?” Jamar looked at her and said, “No, your hair isn’t dry, I just came up with that line to get your number.” And well the story goes on…
The Proposal…
Jamar proposed to Jessica on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013, in Farmville, VA while visiting Jessica’s family. Jamar couldn’t sleep with utter excitement that night and couldn’t wait for Christmas morning for the family breakfast to pop the question. He came into their room, and woke Jessica up at 3:00am on Christmas Day, and asked her…”Could you love me forever?” Jessica said yes, and Jamar pulled out a little Black box and asked her, “will you marry me?”

Notes from the Jessica & Jamar:
A.J. is a phenomenal photographer. He catches every detail and has a great way of putting his clients at ease. Our engagement session went smoothly, because of his great time management and ability to work with his client’s and know their vision. He takes great pride in what he does, which is shown through his photos.

Engaged couples need to take their time in understanding what their vision is and what they are trying to convey. Knowing their vision and being able to communicate it allows the photographer to research and understand the vision you are trying to show. A.J. did his research on the couple and understood their vision. When the couple arrived on the scene, A.J. had water, different locations at the venue already ready to shoot. It was an amazing experience.
