LOVE IS SAVERY
Ashley was 19 and Mike was 20 when they first met. It was at a mutual friend’s birthday party down in Miami. Mike glanced over at Ashley and thought “She’s beautiful”. He took a moment and introduced himself to Ashley then asked her to dance. She accepted the offer and they danced till the early hours of the morning. It seemed like time stood still for those moments and they didn’t realize how fast time was going by. The night was coming to an end and everyone was leaving. They had parted ways and he missed his chance to ask for her number before she left. But with the power of technology and social media, Mike was able to find her on Facebook and send a direct message. This was the moment where a friendship took off.
They stayed in contact for awhile and Mike had asked her to go out on a date. Ashley was sick with a cold but did not want to turn down a date. He knew she was not feeling 100% so he decided to take her to Panera bread for some soup and tea. They talked for hours until the restaurant closed. They learned that they had so much in common. They both loved watching and playing sports, going to Disney and had a great love for traveling. The main thing that they really admired about each other was their drive to succeed in life and how the value of family was important to them.
Time went by and they went their separate ways to attend different colleges. Mike ended up graduating from Florida Gulf Coast with his Bachelor’s in Communication Studies and Ashley graduated from Broward College with her Associates in Science for Respiratory Therapy. One day Mike decided to contact Ashley to see how things were going. They both decided to meet up and grab some drinks. They talked for hours and discussed things that happened since they parted ways. One thing was for sure that no one could deny was the love they had for each other was still present. They were strong believers in that whoever is meant to be in their life will always gravitate back, regardless how far they wander. As people say, true love has a habit of coming back.
After a year of being together, they decided to take the next major step in their relationship. They moved in together and started their lives in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Mike currently works as a zone sales manager for Pepperidge Farm and Ashley works as a Respiratory Therapist at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Everything has been going great and they decided to get a puppy together. A miniature schnauzer named Vader that has quite a personality! During this whole time, Mike was keeping a secret from Ashley. A secret that would change their lives.
After four months of living together they took a trip with Mike’s family to Greece. Mike planned to go to dinner the night they arrived in Athens at a restaurant that overlooked the Acropolis. After dinner, everyone got up to take pictures at the restaurant with the Parthenon in the back ground. Mike gave his cell phone to his mom and asked her to take pictures of them with it. Little did Ashley know, Mike was facetiming her mom. They took some pictures and Mike grabbed her hand and got down on one knee. He asked her to marry him and said that he couldn’t see himself spending the rest of his life with anyone else. She cried and nodded yes! They spent ten days traveling through Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini. It was a celebration indeed!
Wedding Planner: The Design Group
Engagement Session Experience
Our engagement session was overall a great experience. The location, the atmosphere and all those who were involved is what brought our vision into reality. We chose a vintage theme because we loved the uniqueness of it and the history that it brings. When you think vintage, you think of stories of those who have come before us. We wanted to portray a love story through our pictures. AJ captured all that. He exceeded all expectations. We had never done a professional photoshoot, so we were very awkward at first. AJ inspired us to loosen up and be ourselves. His vast knowledge and creativity helped show our personality and love for each other through photography.
Dionne Anderson our wedding planner of “The Design Group”, played a major role in this engagement photo session. Her relentless passion for bringing out the best experience brought our vision to life. She chose the perfect location which was a boutique hotel called The Betsy Hotel. It is a beautiful property that made this photoshoot unique and showed our love for travel. It has so much character and the staff were so kind to us. We look forward to our future stay at The Betsy Hotel.
What we would tell future engaged couples is to enjoy this time in your life because it goes by so quickly. People get caught up in planning and just living their lives that they miss out on a beautiful experience. We would also tell them if they do consider doing an engagement shoot, which I do recommend, just have fun with it.
We feel that the engagement session will better prepare us for our wedding day because we have built that trust with AJ and know that on our wedding day things would run smoothly.
