Shamen and Larsz Love Story

It was 9 years ago this June that Larsz first laid eyes on his would-be bride Shamen. While in College in Tallahassee at THE Florida State University Shamen worked in the ladies department on the second level at Dillards in Governor’s Square Mall. While on a summer break from Tennessee State University Larsz relocated to Tallahassee to help his youngest brother settle in to a new city. During this break he started working in the ladies shoes department on the first level of Dillards. As the newest face in a store full of Ladies, Larsz had his share of dinner and movie dates with coworkers until he met a Haitian beauty from the Ladies department upstairs. Once she walked down off the escalator in to his department, she entered his heart and thoughts and has permanently resided there ever since. It was a tale of 2 people coming off long-term relationships with broken, but open hearts. After a summer of memorable firsts Larsz decided to not move back to Tennessee and a whirlwind of Romance began. Larsz says the “moment” happened outside of his brothers’ apartment that same summer as he and Shamen were taking one of their many evening strolls. The moment for Shamen did not happen until the end of that summer after a brief weekend apart from each other.

The romance was nothing like Shamen and ever seen before. A man who truly loved her, her flaws, her family and most importantly accepted her friends as they were. As many other college students, Shamen and Larsz were living on a budget. It was the nights of trying to figure out how to make $10 last for 3-4 days until the next payday that started their foundation of trust. The following summer Larsz went back to school in Tennessee and Shamen graduated from FSU and was starting nursing school In Jacksonville, FL. During those 3 years of long distance every aspect of their love was tested, but they fought for a love that they wanted to keep.

Larsz proposed on 03/01/2013 just 4 days before the birth of their daughter Laurel Josiane. Larsz was able to manage to have her family come in from out of town as a last “hoorah” before the baby was to arrive, so That way Shamen would be clueless about his plan. Everyone headed out to Las Olas in downtown Ft. Lauderdale to see Larsz’s friend play his guitar. Shamen only went because a gift for the baby was promised. As the gift bag was presented everyone turned to face her (which she thought was very odd). The lights from her brother’s camera was blinding, so it made it difficult to see the gift and fully comprehend the words on the onesie. Everyone was urging her to open the gift and to read it aloud. She complied and started to read the baby onesie out loud, but mostly to herself. It read, “Mommy it would be so nice for you to be my daddy’s wife, will you marry him?” While reading and trembling Shamen looked up to find Larsz on bended. Shamen cried and said yes excitedly (Needless to say a crying 9 ½ month pregnant woman was a sight to see, lol).

Shamen’s most emotional wedding day moment was walking down the aisle in anticipation of seeing Larsz for the first time in 24 hours and knowing that seeing his smile would calm her down.

Larsz’s moment came when he saw Shamen walking up the aisle towards him and realizing that this day was the beginning of forever.

Most anticipated photo moment for Shamen was capturing the look of excitement on her 2 year old daughter’s face as she saw her mother the bride for the first time. Larsz photo moment was of his father getting him dressed.

Our wedding day experience was AMAZING!! AJ arrived early and got everyone enthusiastic and ready for a great day of memories. It felt as if AJ were truly happy for us, which allowed us to enjoy our day that much more. Our family and bridal party LOVED his energy and creativeness. We expected a great experience because that was what we shopped for when looking for a wedding photographer, so AJ was chosen wisely.

WE would tell future couples to be ON TIME and you will get the best that AJ has to offer. We were relaxed and was able to enjoy the moment. There was no rushing from shot to shot. A relaxed atmosphere  allows for creativity to flow. AJ and his staff are perfectionists and will work tirelessly to achieve the picture/vision. He was great at listening to our ideas and he inspired us to be fabulous and ourselves.

Also we’d tell couples to do a Rock-the-dress shoot. It is so much FUN!
